Dr. Sabrina Rood,

Narrative Therapist

Thank you for visiting my website!

I am a narrative therapist in private practice. I provide supportive, professional narrative therapy for individuals and couples, helping to instill hope for a healthier, more joyful way of life. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been seeing my clients via telehealth, offering confidential Zoom and telephone sessions five days a week. Beginning in July 2023, I will see some clients on Saturdays at my Queen Anne office, while continuing to offer telehealth.

I have developed a specialization in the assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic support of adults who believe they may be on the autism spectrum.

I believe that therapy is a unique, positive step you can take toward growth. You are not alone. Collaborating in a respectful therapeutic relationship can be a life-affirming experience. Using narrative therapy and a person-centered, strengths-based approach to our work together, I will assist you in setting goals and in making changes in your life. In therapy, we will identify your joys and strengths as well as your areas of challenge.

I hold a master's degree (MA) in counseling psychology from Bethel University (2008) and a doctoral degree (EdD) in counseling psychology from Argosy University (2014). My doctoral dissertation research was a qualitative research study on the marriages of bereaved parent couples following the death of their child. Formerly I practiced as a licensed mental health counselor associate (LMHCA) for 7 years in WA state, and in 2023 I will continue to pursue my WA state licensure as a psychologist. I am an LGBTQ-friendly counselor and welcome clients who are specifically looking for counseling that is poly- and kink-friendly. I love to help my clients in the areas of relationship, grief and loss, spirituality, sexuality, and self-compassion. I specialize in the assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic support of adults who believe they may be on the autism spectrum. As the pandemic lifts, I plan to begin offering and facilitating support and discussion groups for autistic adults, at my Queen Anne office. More information to come!
